2 Maccabees 7:1
Good News Translation
On another occasion a Jewish mother and her seven sons were arrested. The king was having them beaten to force them to eat pork.

It happened also that seven brothers and their mother were arrested and were being compelled by the king, under torture with whips and thongs, to partake of unlawful swine’s flesh.

King Antiochus once arrested seven Jewish brothers and their mother. He had them beaten with heavy whips and tried to make them eat the meat of pigs, which is against our laws.
