Sirach 17:27
Good News Translation
Those who are alive can give thanks to the Lord, but can anyone in the world of the dead sing praise to the Most High?

Who will sing praises to the Most High in Hades in place of the living who give thanks?

Only the living can thank the Lord-- no one in the world of the dead can praise him;
