2 Maccabees 8:1
Good News Translation
Judas Maccabeus and his friends went secretly from village to village until they had gathered a force of about 6,000 Jewish men who had remained faithful to their religion.

Meanwhile Judas, who was also called Maccabeus, and his companions secretly entered the villages and summoned their kindred and enlisted those who had continued in the Jewish faith, and so they gathered about six thousand.

Meanwhile, Judas Maccabeus and his followers were going secretly through our towns and villages, gathering a force of about 6,000 faithful Jews.
